Privacy Policy

1. Personal information we collect

We collect the following personal information:

• Account and contact information: name, email address, and password (stored in encrypted form).
• Order information: the documents and text you submit for translation (Source Material), your instructions, and delivery details.
• Payment information: billing details and payment records. Full card numbers are handled by our payment provider and are not stored on our own servers.
• Automatically collected information: IP address, browser and device type, access logs, and cookie data (see Section 9).

We collect this information when you create an account, place an order, contact us, or use the Service.

2. Purposes of processing

We process personal information for the following purposes:

• to create and manage your account and authenticate you;
• to perform the translation contract — to prepare, deliver, and support your Orders;
• to process payments, refunds, and billing;
• to respond to inquiries and provide customer support;
• to comply with legal obligations and prevent fraud or misuse; and
• with your consent, to send service updates and marketing communications, which you may opt out of at any time.

3. Retention and use period

We retain personal information only for as long as necessary for the purposes above. When the purpose is achieved or you close your account, we destroy the information without delay, except where a law requires longer retention. In particular, under the Act on the Consumer Protection in Electronic Commerce and related laws, we retain:

• records of contracts or withdrawal of subscription: 5 years;
• records of payment and supply of goods or services: 5 years;
• records of consumer complaints or dispute resolution: 3 years;
• records of website access (log-in): 3 months.

4. Provision of personal information to third parties

We do not provide your personal information to third parties except where you have consented, or where required or permitted by law, for example under a valid request from an investigative or regulatory authority in accordance with statutory procedures.

5. Outsourcing of processing

To operate the Service, we entrust certain processing tasks to service providers (수탁자). We require each provider to protect personal information as required by PIPA. Current categories include payment processing, cloud hosting and infrastructure, and email and communications. A current list of providers is available on request at support@kabayantranslate.com.

6. Cross-border transfer of personal information

Some of our service providers process or store data outside the Republic of Korea, for example on globally distributed cloud infrastructure. Where we transfer personal information overseas, we do so in accordance with PIPA and take reasonable measures to ensure it is protected to the standard required by Korean law. We will provide details of the recipient, purpose, items, and country on request, and obtain your consent where required.

7. Your rights and how to exercise them

As a data subject, you or your legal representative may at any time request access to your personal information, request correction of inaccurate information, request deletion, or request suspension of processing. To exercise these rights, contact us at support@kabayantranslate.com. We will act without undue delay in accordance with PIPA. We may decline or limit a request only where permitted by law, and will explain our reasons.

8. Destruction of personal information

When personal information is no longer needed, we destroy it without delay. Electronic files are deleted using a method that prevents recovery, and printed documents are shredded or incinerated.

9. Cookies and automatically collected information

The Service uses cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember your preferences, and analyze usage. You can refuse or delete cookies through your browser settings; however, some features of the Service may not function properly if you do.

10. Security measures

We take administrative, technical, and physical measures to protect your personal information, including access controls, encryption of passwords and sensitive data, restriction of staff access on a need-to-know basis, and security measures for our systems.

13. Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in law or our services. We will announce any changes within the Service and update the "Last updated" date above. Material changes will be announced at least 7 days before they take effect.
